Forever Game
come,
make a move
or perhaps it’s not your move to make.
maybe it’s someone else’s game, and your role is to observe,
or simply to pass it by...
in chess, players have 20 possible opening moves, but with each subsequent move, the story
branches into countless possibilities . each move is a transformation, an event, an impact
before you : a chess game stretches beyond the board. it ascends the wall, reaches the ceiling,
and loops infinitely . its goal is singular, yet its extent is boundless
the 'cage' in the foreground makes the game seem inaccessible, yet the figures,
bisected by the glass, draw nearer — positioning themselves within your grasp
the classical archetypes of chess figures are revised in this set . each figure’s form thus contains clues to its capacity and reach: L-line shapes the knight, diagonals direct the bishop, queen and king follow an all-rounded base of the cylinder, while the rook retains its castle-like form, moving orthogonally : movement contained in form
